Mary Ball's work in acrylic, ink, pastel, and watercolor, often features cultural symbols of strong female characters. Power-queens, geishas, and goddesses frequently emerge in her pieces. "This theme," she says, "is reminiscient of the strong women in my life, and the pageantry of my southern upbringing." Her pieces exude a unique balance of composure and chaos. She explains, "painting, for me, is a self-discovery process."
