Mauricio Sánchez Rengifo (Masáre), was born in Pereira, Colombia. He is an architect by profession, amusician by passion and an artist, who is continuously researching materials, tools, visual effects andaudiovisual creation.During the last 15 years, his pictorial work has been defined within an optical deconstructivism language, whose technical and visual effects are strongly influenced by Kinetic, Optical and Pop art.His work is based on the recognition of images as fragments. This means, that the images are not what wesee with the eyes but a product of the subconscious mind after collecting and unifying the information ofeach one of the fragments or pieces. His proposal is based on the deconstruction of faces into plots, lines, serial geometries, textures, reflections and refractions. The image is never obvious at first glance, instead, the idea is to generate itthrough progressive discovery from different perspectives, distances and variable lighting conditions. On his work, different types of painting, materials and objects are used to communicate what the personportrayed represents and inspires. “I paint portraits of icons and legends who have guided our path into music and art. Each painting seeks to translate the sounds and biographical elements of each artist as a vividportal to reflect them in materials, colors and full of detail textures and subliminal, optical, andeven sciential elements”.
